A resume (CV) is the first point of contact for a potential employer. The resume describes how great the candidate is, their skill set, accomplishments and the understanding of a desired role.
The resume should be no more than two pages. Your resume should contain an objective, employment history and education. The objective should clearly lay out the desired role. The employment history should contain clear dates that show month and year, company name and your title held during your employment. Under the title and company name the information should read as a condensed and summarized list of skills obtained while working with the organization. A list of major accomplishments during your term should also be included in the summary. Always sell your accomplishments. It is success that will grab the potential employer’s attention.
A resume should be laid out simply and professionally. The interviewer should get a clear understanding of your knowledge with a quick glance instead of a long search. Pay attention to detail. Spell Check is very important! If using a template make sure to fill in all areas laid out and labelled. Remember two sets of eyes are better than one, have someone proof read the resume before submitting to the desired company.
